The Critical Result Routing & Communications (CRR) module is the part of the HMS system that processes clinical and abnormal results of Laboratory. It includes the full range of specialties; from general lab, to molecular biology, etc. and Digital Diagnostic Imaging. The result routing logic also accommodates shift changes of doctor, routing to the correct doctor of care, and patient movements from different departments of specialities.[1] [2]  This module is highly configurable and allows results to be delivered according to the hospital or department workflow using various configuration templates. The system also provides for escalation paths should doctors not respond in a timely manner, and integrates into the call center operations as a last resort to ensure that nothing is missed.

An important aspect of patient safety when dealing with critical results is the turnaround time to the provision of care when a critical result has been flagged. The CRR module automates this reporting by tracking responses from caregivers while ensuring compliance reporting to management.
